Qont has released a retrospective celebrating the origin of its first-ever PRI machine, marking the earliest step in the creation of Portable Risk Intelligence.
The company’s earliest system was built entirely by hand, designed and coded from scratch on old computers available at the time. Functionally, it acted as a calculator capable of identifying and measuring risk through mathematics, returning early versions of what would later become risk scores. Every test result represented a breakthrough, establishing the foundation for what would evolve into a new category of technology.
That original system directly inspired the concept of Portable Risk Intelligence. Before the formal name was introduced, the team referred to their project as on-the-go risk management. The early builds demonstrated that risk management could be both portable and accurate, a principle that shaped the company’s direction and technical philosophy.
The machine itself is no longer in operation but remains preserved through internal documentation and technical records. Its logic and intent continue to influence the company’s engineering priorities.
While today’s PRI Series 1 Pro and QOS 16 systems are not direct descendants of that first prototype, they serve as a continuation of its vision. Each generation reaffirms Qont’s belief that risk understanding belongs with the individual — portable, clear, and precise.
To the best of the company’s knowledge, this first machine represents the earliest working instance of what would later become the entire Portable Risk Intelligence category. It stands as a reminder of Qont’s origins and its continuing dedication to transforming how risk is managed in real time.
